This was the decade of the institution’s birth on October 6, 1971, in the hands of the Jesuit priest Francisco García Jiménez, founder and first director of the organization.
“Uncle Paco” guided the essential work to the delivery of housing donated to disadvantaged homeless people, victims of fires or natural disasters.
During this period Hogar de Cristo counted on one sawmill in Guayaquil to produce a monthly average of 100 houses.
We would like to emphasize the care with which Uncle Paco personally delivered the donated houses to poor families in the marginal zones of Guayaquil.
From there we inherited the name “Healing House” around Guayaquil and also a paternalistic corporate work image that we tried to change.
